Jeffrey’s Voice has received a very generous grant from the Small Army for a Cause and the 2011 Be Bold, Be Bald! Campaign. The Be Bold, Be Bald! Campaign is a national event where people sign up to wear a bald cap for just one day, to honor those who bravely fight cancer, and often do not have a choice about losing their hair. Jeffrey’s Voice is a beneficiary of this national event. The 2011 event was held on October 21, and 16 participated on behalf of Jeffrey’s Voice, raising a total of $3,000, all of which will be directed to funding of research into the causes of and cures for Leukemia and Blood Cancers. With the addition of non-directed funds, the grant to Jeffrey’s Voice from Small Army for a Cause exceeded $3,000.
“At Small Army for a Cause, we believe that no one should have to fight cancer alone. So, on October 21, 2011, we engaged people all over the country to wear bald caps to stand by and honor those who battle this terrible disease. Their gesture not only demonstrated their compassion for cancer patients, but also generated much discussion and much needed funding to help in the fight against cancer,” stated Jeff Freedman, CEO, Small Army for a Cause.
Nancy Horne, President of Jeffrey’s Voice, said, “2011 was the first year that Jeffrey’s Voice participated in the Be Bold, Be Bald! Campaign, and we are so very grateful for the support we received from our many wonderful friends and donors! We’re also grateful to the Small Army for a Cause for allowing us to join them in fight against cancer and, in particular, the fight against Leukemia. At Jeffrey’s Voice, we know that together, we can and will find a cure for this wretched disease.”
The 2012 Be Bold, Be Bald Campaign is planned for November 2.
